Welcome to the first ever CHS Photography online Gallery Hub

The Gallery Hub is designed to allow students a place to exhibit and archive their work in a public manner.  These galleries will evolve and expand over the course of the semester.  We ask that you visit often as works will constantly be added to the galleries.  Students should view this hub as an access point to assignments, criteria sheets, course outlines, and inspiration.

Welcome to Photography 10, 11, 12
I am excited to be your instructor and facillitator on this journey into what photography is and can be.  My goal for each of you is to understand the purposes and uses of photography and to help you explore and discover your voice as a photographer.

What is photography to me? To me photography is not simply the taking of pictures.  The meaning is found in the roots of the actual word "Photography".


photo: in the greek root means light 

graphy: a combining form denoting a process or form of drawing, writing,representing, recording, describing, etc.

So to me the essence of the art of photography is the drawing with light. Over the course of the semester we are going to discover what that means.  We will experiment, research, discover, succeed and fail, but you will discover who you are as a photographer.  Please come prepared to think out side of the box.
